International Culture Evening 2015 – Wednesday 17th June 2015
International Culture Evening 2014
On Wednesday 11th June, St. Crispin’s held its annual International Evening. The evening was a celebration of the range of nationalities in the school. It involved global food tasting as well as student performances.
St. Crispin’s Jazz Band, led by Mr Hudson (Head of Music) started the evening off, followed by performances from the Junior and Chamber Choir plus acoustic solo performances from students outside on the mound.
There was a selection of art and craft stalls, including the famous homemade jam by Mr Hudson’s parents. Maraki Crafts supplied their costume jewellery and the Young Enterprise Team sold their homemade bath bombs and friendship bracelets.
Students, with mentoring help from Mrs Wo Kai Song, wowed guests with their street dancing and Sega Mauaritian dance routines. Following the entertainment staff and parents gathered to present food to taste from their home countries. There was paella from Spain, monkey gland steak from South Africa and dessert tarts from Italy.
The evening was concluded by an outstanding performance and sneak preview from the Hairspray summer production.
The evening was a great success with nearly 300 people gathering to celebrate St. Crispin’s diversity.
Headteacher Ginny Rhodes said: “Our school is rightly proud of the International Evening and it is a special way to highlight the rich diversity of our community; bringing us all together to celebrate the common bond of being part of St. Crispin’s.
“I am so appreciative of the hours of work put into the event by so many to make it so special .”
